From a standstill in 1st gear to 100 km/h without changing gear?
A new car and you have to get used to the little things...
In the case of our customer Thomas and the Z06, it was the manual gearbox:
Sometimes he had 3rd gear instead of 1st and didn't even realize it when the 7011ccm distributed over 8 cylinders provided an abundance of torque.
The engine goes like a buffalo - venomous from 3,500 rpm, 1st gear well over 100, 2nd gear about 150, the 325 rear tires wanted to overtake the body.
Thomas rarely drives in the wet and doesn't like it - it's no fun when you have to drive like a raw egg on the accelerator pedal. It was risky even in 3rd gear, with a low engine speed and then full throttle, better not. Sometimes it even twitched in 4th gear.
But you can also cruise up an incline, 4th gear from low revs and you can feel that something big is working under the hood.
Thomas has given his "Vette" a few small but fine upgrades to ensure that it also goes forward on the track:
The standard engine was completely overhauled and now runs in the racing setup with ethanol (E85) on almost 600 horses - unbridled power that melts into the asphalt on powerful 335 semi-slicks.
A racing suspension is used for the necessary driving dynamics, and the Ami, which weighs a relatively slim 1418 kg ex works, has also been slimmed down with bucket seats and particularly light wheels.
At the start of the 2019 season, Thomas finally said goodbye to his heavy lead-acid starter battery and has been using our LB28XX (2.8kg).
The LITE↯BLOX saves a whopping 20 kg compared to the standard battery in this vehicle, can be switched off for the winter thanks to I.K.O.S. and provides lasting protection from thieves thanks to A.V.A.T..
